Etching, aquatint and chine collé
This is one of my favourite etchings. I’m pleased with the results and I printed it in different ink colours, plus a version in which I applied red tissue paper to the plate in a process that’s known as chine collé. When etching, you always print on damp paper. You coat the tissue paper in a thin layer of PVA glue which sticks to the paper. The pressure of the press melds the tissue and the printing paper together so they become one.
